Meet Meredith:
I am a second year MBA student at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. Before Darden, I worked in state politics where I found my passion for sustainability. I like finding cool products, watching YouTube, hiking, cooking, and being spunky!
I hope you will join me in this sustainability journey!
My Mission: Make becoming sustainable as easy and approachable as possible.
I tried following zero waste, no plastic, and minimalist philosophies at different points and burned out each time. It was too expensive, too confusing, and quite frankly mentally and emotionally exhausting!
At the time, my inability to meet these standards felt like a personal failing. Over time I realized that the world we live in doesn’t make it easy for us to become sustainable. So I set out to design a system for myself where I could measure my results and see how much I could reduce my impact on the planet.
I post habits, tips, and recipes that you can use to reduce your environmental footprint. But my main focus is on finding products that are produced in a eco-friendly way and sharing information about them.
Why focus on products? For two reasons.
First, buying sustainable products signals to companies that sustainability is something I care about. I am motivated and inspired by the scale of improvement that can be achieved by convincing a company to make small changes in the types of products they produce and how they produce them.
Second, I have found this is the easiest way to make myself more sustainable. By changing the products I use, I am becoming more sustainable without radical change to my behavior and routines. It is also one of the easiest ways for me to numerically track the impact I am having on the planet.
